About Our Club………

Our club takes part in many aspects of cycling from road racing and cyclo-cross to sportive’s (non-competitive cycling events) and Mountain biking. We have Junior members starting at 12 years of age to older members who prefer to keep that info to themselves!! (Some over 70 and still racing). You don’t need to be mad but it may help.

The club was established in 1994 when some like-minded¬† cycling afficionado’s gathered to form TCTC, we now have over 70 active members. Our members span all ages and abilities from serious roadies to people who are here for fitness and fun. There is also a good social aspect to the club and we hold many events during the year from club meals to weekends away.

We rollout every Sunday morning from Ballalley carpark on the Dangean Road opposite the Sacred Heart School.

We usually head out for our spin in two groups. The first leaves at 8:30am and consists of the racing/advanced cyclists. The second leaves at 9:00am and consists of sportive/fitness cyclists. We also periodically run starter groups. Junior cyclists meet on Saturday mornings at 9:00am in the Ballalley Carpark from April to September for 25km to 50km spins.

What is “half wheelin’ heaven”?

It happens when a club member (aka A Muppet) gets to the front of a chain gang and very gradually increases the groups speed by going half a wheel ahead of the rider he (its usually a he) should be cycling beside. This is known as ‘half wheelin’. Its socially deplorable yet continues to exist like smoking (and triathlons)!!
