Club News Update 30/7

Latest Club News

  • The final Club Time Trial takes place this Wednesday 1st August. Start time is 7pm at the normal location at McCann’s Garage outside Kilbeggan.
  • The club will hold a small get together to wish Fran bon voyage in her Olympic quest on Wednesday 1st August in Spollen’s Bar at 9pm.
  • Don’t forget the Pat Colgan Memorial which takes place on Sunday 26th August. You’ll find more details on the main page on the website.

 

Pat Colgan Charity Cycle 2012

Pat Colgan Charity Cycle 2012

Tullamore CTC are pleased to announce the Pat Colgan Charity Cycle is back for 2012.

The cycle will take place on Sunday August 26th.

Sign-on is from 8:30am at The Harriers Athletics Ground on the Spollenstown Road in Tullamore.

 

There will be 2 adult cycles with both rolling out at 9:30am.

  • 120km Pat Colgan Slieve Bloom Challenge takes in 2 climbs in the Slieve Blooms with a fast flat finish from Birr to Tullamore.
  • 80km Pat Colgan Tour takes in flatter roads around the base of the Slieve Bloom mountains before joining with the 120km route to finish. Continue reading

Always a popular event with the club a large contingent of Tullamore CTC members headed down to Killarney for

this years Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle. Well done to everyone who went down. Such was the crowd doing it I never met anyone from our own club which was unusual.

So after the successful trip to the Burren a couple of weeks back plans were quickly put in place to tackle the Ring of Kerry. Successful being the operative word considering the horrendous weather and tough roads that we endured in Clare. In typical 2012 fashion the rain was teeming down on Friday afternoon as myself and Collie left Tullamore in the trusty Transit. We stopped for fodder in Birdhill on the way down where we teamed up with Paul, Ollie and Gary (Collies’s friend). With the pit stop out of the way we headed for Killarney. It was noticeably slower once we hit Adare with a steady line of cars with bikes making there way to Killarney for the weekend. Continue reading

Mullingar 2 Day

Race Report

Myself and Peter headed across to the Mullingar 2 Day this past weekend which was hosted by our near neighbours Lakeside Wheelers. This race consisted of a 105km stage on Saturday followed by a short Time Trial on Sunday and finishing with a 85km road stage on Sunday afternoon. Its great to have a race close by as normally we have to travel up to Dublin or further for the racing fix. Continue reading

Club News 2nd July

News Round Up

  • Meeting this Tuesday 3rd July in Spollens at 9:00pm to discuss the Pat Colgan and the French Tour as well as other items. Please show your support and attend.
  • Hill TT on The Cut this Wednesday 4th July. Start location is the Community Centre in Clonaslee. Bring your climbing legs.
  • Ring of Kerry cycle this Saturday 7th July. There is a good group heading down from the club so best of luck to everyone. See you down there.
